HPEE-COBE project

Contents

Introduction

HPEE-COBE is a coordinated project involving researchers from the TIC117, TIC251, and TIC221 research groups, which respectively belong to the Universities of Granada, Málaga, and Almería. The research lines addressed are related to the challenges posed by the digital society. Among them, the processing of information in bioinformatics applications. High-Performance Computing (HPC) has made it possible to face many challenges of the digital society that required processing large amounts of data. Thus, the HPEE-COBE project considers that the analysis of high-dimensional datasets used in some fields of Computer Science is not possible without:

  • The efficient use, in terms of performance and energy consumption, of heterogeneous and distributed computing platforms that include multiple CPUs and accelerators such as GPUs or TPUs.
  • The development of new and powerful procedures based on approaches that appear frequently in Machine Learning and evolutionary computing.
